Are you a digital native? Let’s find out.

Do Digital Natives Exist?. What is a Digital Native? “The… | by Courtney Nicholls | Medium

Directions: Answer the following questions honestly.

1. How many times have you checked your phone this morning?

2. How many status updates have you posted in Facebook or Twitter today?

3. Did you use the Internet for an hour after you woke up this morning?

4. Do you follow a celebrity via his/her social media account?

If you happen to be “guilty as charged” in most of these questions, chances are, you are a digital native. And chances are, from the moment you were born, you were surrounded by technology. You are surrounded by ICT.

WHO IS A DIGITAL NATIVE?

What is a Digital Native? — Definition by Techslang

Digital Native is a person born or brought up during the age of digital technology and therefore familiar with computers and the Internet from an early age.

WHAT IS DIGITAL NATIVE

As the famous saying goes, "Love makes the world go round." But you might argue how the Internet has made the world go round for decades before you start searching for someone to fall in love with. Likewise, the Internet has probably made your world go round in the motivation activity. In this lesson we will understand how information and communication technologies in such a short period of time have improved our lives.

What is Information and Communication Technology or ICT?

ICT Tools - Javatpoint

      • It deals with the use of different communication technologies such as mobile phones, Internet and etc. to locate, save, send, and edit information.

Having a unified way to communicate is one of the goals of ICT. We spend less because of ICT.

World Wide Web

 World Wide Web - Wikipedia

  • The World Wide Web, commonly referred to as WWW, W3, or simply the Web is an interconnected system of public webpages accessible through the Internet. It was invented Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1989.
  • Web pages are what make up the world wide web and it can either be static or dynamic.

What is Web 2.0 - Definition, Advantages and Features

  • Darcy DiNucci, an information architecture consultant, coined the term Web 2.0 in her 1999 article, “Fragmented Future”.
  • The term was popularized by Tim O'Reilly and Dale Dougherty at the O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 Conference in late 2004 (TechTarget, 2015).

Features of Web 2.0

  • Folksonomy - It allows users to categorize and classify/arrange information using freely chosen keywords (e.g., tagging). Popular social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. use tags that start with the pound sign (#). This is also referred to as hashtag.

  • Rich User Experience - Content is dynamic and is responsive to user’s input. An example would be a website that shows local content. In the case of social networking sites, when logged on, your account is used to modify what you see in their website.

  • User Participation - The owner of the website is not the only one who is able to put content. Others are able to place a content of their own by means of comment, reviews, and evaluation. Some websites allow readers to comment on an article, participate in a poll, or review a specific product (e.g., Amazon.com, online stores).

  • Software as a Service - Users will subscribe to a software only when needed rather than purchasing them. This is a cheaper option if you do not always need to use a software. For instance, Google Docs is a free web-based application that allows the user to create and edit word processing and spreadsheet documents online. When you need a software, like a Word Processor, you can purchase it for a one-time huge amount and install it in your computer and it is yours forever. Software as a service allows you to “rent” a software for a minimal fee.

It encourages out-of-school youth to take ownership of their education, discover their interests, and pursue their dreams, irrespective of their circumstances or previous setbacks. These young individuals can become valuable contributors to the workforce, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and agents of positive change. By doing so, we can foster a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

In this Investigatory Report, I learned that nobody is above the law and even if you are a teenager in the society. So being also a teenager in the society, our research taught me that do not commit a crime instead do good things for the improvement of the society and secure the name of the school.
          • warry fomeg-as - Fri, 9 Jun 2023, 11:19 AM
This is our first time conducting such investigatory report involving the presence of government workers. It was really challenging to do this research.

The video talks about the cases of CICL in Tadian, and especially here in Lubon wherein as young as 12 years old, they already invlove their selves in any kind of offence against the law. As a fellow youth, this made me think that why do these children commit such atrocious actions not considering their age, their family and friends, and also the name of the place and school they carry? Why do they need to do these? However, since their are no distinct researches to claim the reasons and grounds as to why these children involve themselves in a crime, we can't help but to continuously educate them to be responsible children.

In the making of this video, unfortunately, I was not able to go with my group mates during the interview of Ma'am Agustina Bangnan, because I had headache that time. Furthermore, that was sad for me because I was the group leader. Nevertheless, they finished the interview, gathering all the informations needed, excellently.

We continued the interview with the teachers or class advisers of Lubon NHS to obtain more data needed for our investigatory report.

After all the data were gathered, we proceeded to the editing of the video. It was difficult at first, deciding what goes along with this and that, however with my experience in editing videos, I was able to overcome that difficulty. With the help of my group mates' suggestions and ideas, the editing of the video was finished, finally.

In our video, I learned a lesson that parental guidance is so important in for a child's development and growth. Parents are one of the factors that influences a child's attitude and behavior.

In addition, children are the hope for tomorrow. Contrary speaking, how will that happen if children involve themselves in any kind of offence, at such a young age. As the ending of our video says, "As a youth, we advice to the younger generation to go to school, learn something good, and apply it in their daily lives. Be a good student always. Don't involve yourself in bad actions. Be responsible. Love yourself. Let us hold our hands and make our school a child-friendly environment."

I hope our video output can teach everyone a lesson.

Don't involve yourself in bad actions. Be a good student and be responsible student always. So there will be no more CICL cases in our place/school anymore/let us hold our hands, and make our school a child friendly environment. Otherwise wen learn from our parents a good action and bad action.

This video of us talks about the story of a mother who lose her son and husband because of jealousy.

In the making of this video, we sacrificed our time just to finish this challenging output. We finished shooting nearly 2 months.

Since I was one of the main lead character, I suffered minor injury such as scratches on my feet, legs, and arms. Nonetheless, Our video was a success
